Welcome to The Freelance Institue community! This is a community for freelancers and remote workers, and its purpose is to help our members learn the business of freelancing by making meaningful connections with like-minded freelancers.

Our Mission

We understand that freelancing requires a tremendous amount of courage, integrity, and strength. But when you become self-employed, your circle of co-workers and friends shrinks dramatically at a time when you need support the most.

Our mission is to provide a single destination where freelancers from any country, in any industry, can connect with each other, answer questions, access valuable resources, and share personal experiences to help them succeed.

Here's what we expect from everyone in this community:

  • Be kind to each other. Communities are fundamentally about building strong relationships and developing a sense of belonging — opinions may differ greatly, but there's no need to be mean, rude, offensive, or political. Be respectful and treat others the way you would want to be treated.
  • Don't promote, solicit, or spam. There are plenty of places on the Internet for that; this is not one of them. This does not apply in areas of our community specifically designed for self-promotion or sharing achievements.
  • Keep discussions relevant. This is a community about freelancing, working from home, navigating a life of self-employment, and achieving career success. If you want to discuss other topics, check out our interest groups!
  • Respect everyone's privacy. With the exception of a few spaces, this is a private community for freelancers who pay for access. You're free to share things you learn here elsewhere on the web, but we expect that everyone's personal privacy is respected. If you're not sure if it's ok to share something, ask the person who posted the content or a community manager!
  • Have a question? Email support@thefreelanceinstitute.com or DM a community manager and we'll get back to you promptly.

While we lightly moderate this community, we value and encourage open discussion. If you notice someone engaging in behavior outside this code of conduct, DM a community manager or flag the post for moderation. For repeat offenders, we reserve the right to cancel their membership and immediately remove them from the community.
